DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs is a global public-voted popularity poll. As such, its results tell us something about participation and audience visibility; they do not constitute an expert panel’s definitive assessment of artistic quality.
That distinction matters whenever readers debate why particular countries or scenes feature prominently. Artists can make essential creative contributions while remaining less familiar to the worldwide audiences taking part in such polls.
Transparency helps voters understand what a list measures and what it does not. Rather than dismissing established polls, DOGON wants to broaden the conversation about recognition across African electronic music.
Our planned African DJs Top 100 is a separate initiative for 2027. Its eligibility criteria, nominee process and independent vote checks will be published before the public ballot opens.
